To market, to market to buy a fat…bunch of fresh veggies!  Currently about half of Eau Claire County WIC participants receiving farmers’ market vouchers, redeem them. To increase utilization of WIC farmers’ market (FM) vouchers and now also FoodShare Tokens, FoodWIse nutrition educators partner with WIC to offer Veggin’ Out at the Downtown and Festival Foods Farmers’ Markets. UW-Stout dietetic interns are trained by agency staff to interact with participants offering them a vegetable food sample and recipe, as well as information on how to select and use FM produce.

Educational materials offered include: recipes, UW Extension, WI Fresh Vegetable Guide, How Does Your Garden Grow: Your Guide to Using and Enjoying WI Produce and the PA Nutrition Education Network, WI Fresh Vegetable Guide.
