Project Deadline – May 1

The Eau Claire County Fair requries you to be signed up for your projects in 4-H Online by May 1. You have until then to add or delete projects. Remember, projects are the same as the fair departments. Then you will have your individual fair entries in those project areas.

Check the Fair Book for reference.

4-H Summer Camp!
Registration is OPEN NOW!

Join us for 4-H Summer Camp! There’s no other experience like it! This summer’s camp is from Thursday, June 6 through Sunday, June 9.

Base camp is for grades 3-6 at Kamp Kenwood.

Outpost Camp is for grades 7-9 at Lake Wissota State Park.

The first 20 Eau Claire County 4-H campers will receive a $50 scholarship.


Field Trip to Amanda’s Eggs
May 4 at 9:30am

You’re invited to attend a field trip to Amanda’s Eggs & Pasture Poultry located at 9359 100th Ave, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729

The event will be held rain, snow or shine on May 4 from 9:30 AM -11:00 AM. Attendees will meet up on location.

Sarah Nelson Memorial Scholarship

James E. Volbrecht Scholarship Application
is Open!

This scholarship is in memorial to James Volbrecht who was a longtime supporter of 4-H and the Eau Claire County Fair. Jim graduated from CVTC with an Ag Mechanics degree in 1984 and he was named Outstanding Young Farmer in 1992. Tragically, Jim died in a farming accident in 2019. This scholarship is given in gratitude for his years of support of young people in Eau Claire County and will honor his memory. This $300­­­­ scholarship(s) will be awarded to an active Eau Claire County 4-H or regional FFA member involved in the Eau Claire County Fair (preference will be given to youth involved in the dairy project) who plans to pursue post-secondary education. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Friday, July 26 and will be awarded at the County Fair Awards Ceremony on Sunday, July 28.


Hit Me with Your Best Shot Photo Contest

Minnesota 4-H Photography is excited to offer another multi-state photography contest open to youth in grades K-13!

Select your best photo (with no or minimal editing) and submit it with up to two sentences that explains why it’s special to you! More information and rules for the challenge can be found at: 4-H Hit Me with Your Best Shot Photo Contest | UMN Extension with rules available here.

Submit one (1) jpg or jpeg image and statement to fourhphoto@umn.edu by 11:59 p.m. (CST) on May 1, 2024. Volunteer 4-H photography judges will provide feedback via a slideshow. Top photos will be recognized with a prize and random prize drawing winners will also receive a gift.

Extension Office Photo Contest

Help us spruce up the hallway of the Extension office!  Chosen photos will be printed as an 11″x14″ print, framed, and displayed.

Limit of 5 submissions per youth photographer. Landscape or Portrait orientation.

You may submit your photos to both the plat book cover contest and the Extension office contest.

Include your name, date & location taken (approximation is acceptable), and a title of the photo.

Send submissions to Andy Heren at andrew.heren@wisc.edu with the subject, “Extension Photo Contest” to help us keep track of all of the submissions.

2024 Plat Book Cover Photo Contest

Calling all 4-H photographers! The Eau Claire County 4-H Adult Leaders Association is hosting a Cover Photo Contest for the 2024 Plat Book. Photos should be portrait justified and taken in Eau Claire County.

CVTC Learning Opportunities

  • Beekeeping for Beginners Class:

    • 1 credit course that runs on Saturdays from April 20th – October 2024 (don’t have to make it to every Saturday!)
    • At least 6th grade or older

    • Training is located in the apiary area close to the Transportation Education Center in Eau Claire, WI

Fiber Art 4-H Club— Grades 4-9, June 17-20 (cap of 16 students)

Join others who like to make things out of fabric and yarn.  We’ll explore fiber and art.  Participants will help decide what projects to work on—tapestry weaving, spinning yarn, weaving natural objects, sewing a pillowcase, crocheting/knitting, piecing a fabric ornament, and more.  This club experience will allow you to participate in other 4-H program activities as a 4-H member.

Baking 4-H Club– Grades 5-9, July 8-11 (cap of 18 students)

Join others who like to bake.  We’ll explore how to make a variety of sweet and savory baked goods using a variety of techniques.  We will cover the basics of nutrition and the MyPlate guidelines.  Participants will help decide the recipes and techniques we want to learn.  Options include, meringues, cupcakes, cookies, muffins, frostings, quick breads, yeast bread, frittatas, roast vegetables, pizzas and more.
